Food Wave

Seeds of Transformation

This action by Food Wave spanned 20 countries and 17 cities worldwide. And the education didn’t stop at the classroom.

In Lisbon, young people who joined their Summer and Winter Schools explored agroforestry, sustainable cooking, and EU food policies – then bringing those skills back to their neighbourhoods.

After the training, the open call “Seeds in the Neighbourhood” offered small grants to support youth-led ideas, inviting participants to design actions connecting food, climate, and inclusion. A former Summer School participant organised “Planta no Prato”, a public community food day – featured in Time Out Lisbon. Another one established a community garden where residents grow vegetables, cook familiar dishes, and meet across cultures.

In London a partnership with the Natural History Museum allowed the project to set up a dynamic pop-up and engage with 1 000+ museum visitors thanks to a free programme of workshops, panels, and talks organised in one of the world’s leading scientific institutions that boasts 2 ML annual visitors.
