EAT4Change

Connecting Continents – Youth in Brazil inspire Europe’s food conversation

In Brazil’s vast Cerrado region, young farmers are showing Europe what sustainable food production looks like. Through Eat4Change, a partnership with WWF Brazil brought voices from the Global Majority directly into Europe’s sustainability debate – reminding audiences that climate and food justice must cross continents.

Young farmers and communicators launched the “Cerrados” campaign, exploring the journey of food from soil to plate. A press visit to the Cerrado biome documented its cultural and ecological importance, while participants created ten podcast episodes, a website, and digital storytelling tools in Portuguese to share community-led conservation and everyday sustainable practices. The campaign strengthened local mobilisation to protect the Cerrado and united 50+ civil society organisations advocating for sustainable food and land use.

Thanks to the Eat4Change project, these stories travelled back to Europe, feeding into the #Together4Forests movement and showing the importance of the EU Deforestation Regulation – a milestone limiting access to EU markets for products linked to deforestation.
