Start the change
Young people act for change

Young people often show the urge for a substantial change in the world that surrounds them. After working with them and mobilising them on active citizenship, the project Start the change observed significant increase in students willingness to undertake civic actions. Their commitment was testified by the increased amount of weekly time devoted to volunteer work.

In parallel, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, political awareness, leadership skills, social justice attitudes, and diversity attitudes were recorded by their educators. Whether it is an injustice they are personally experiencing or an unfair situation that directly or indirectly affects someone they know, over 2,600 young people from 12 countries promoted local initiatives and showed willingness to to roll up their sleeves and start acting. An 8-step-guide to become active citizens helped them get started.
