Trade Fair, Live Fair
Let’s choose fair

The fairtrade and ethical fashion movements are pioneers in raising awareness on why we should choose fair goods.

The Trade Fair, Live Fair project focussed on connecting consumers with the producers as well as the workers who make and grow what we wear and eat. The project shared the stories of individuals who are affected by ever – increasing consumption habits, while pushing industries to disclose their supply chains and ensure that their workers receive a fair wage.

And it worked! A causal effect is difficult to establish, but the project contributed to results shown in a FairTrade Foundation survey. In 2020, sales of fairtrade products increased by 16% in the twelve EU countries where Trade Fair, Live Fair ran campaigns.

This increase resulted in more than €190.6 million in fairtrade premium funds for the top 7 products: coffee, bananas, cocoa, cotton, flowers, tea, and sugar. Fairtrade premium are sums collected in a communal fund for workers and farmers to use – as they see fit – to improve their social, economic and environmental conditions.
