Global Education Goes Local

Go POP in learning

Global Education Goes Local used pop culture as a medium and starting point to guide young people in exploring global issues. It produced a youth-friendly toolkit in seven language versions integrating trending topics and issues that spark the young users’ interests.  Its online training course connected global issues to popular music, movies, series, TV shows, memes, youtubers and vloggers, video games, comics, street art, social networks.

Over 8 000 young people in 36 small localities were inspired to take action and share their environmental awareness with friends and family.

Teachers and educators who attended the training on how to use the toolkit in their classes mentioned:

“[It was] easy to read and easy to use, using an up-to-date, creative and innovative method for youth workers.”

“I have got a lot of useful teaching methods; I will use them in formal learning.” Teacher from Slovenia
“I feel confident and knowledgeable enough to completely include SDGs in my own work.” Teacher from Spain
