EU Directive against unfair trading practices
Trade Fair, Live Fair advocated in support of the Report on Human Rights Due Diligence and Corporate Accountability prepared by the European Parliament. The EP report informed the European Commission’s Proposal for the Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (EU)2019/1937.
The EP report and years of advocacy and campaigning by farmers and civil society organizations proved successful in leading to the adoption of the Directive on Unfair Trading Practices. With this piece of EU legislation, individual farmers and small suppliers (both EU and non-EU) are protected from unfair trading practices in agri-food supply chains, often at the hands of big multinational retailers and corporations.
