Snapshots from the Border

A network of border towns

Snapshots from the Border launched the Border Towns and Islands Network. Currently composed of border municipalities across 11 European countries. The network addresses the challenges that local communities face in managing migrant and refugee arrivals. Its members exchange experiences, share knowledge and policy proposals. Working together, the border towns have facilitated cross-country cooperation between mayors and other decision makers, representing different political backgrounds and points of view on migration. Beyond State-to-State cooperation, the network strengthens alliances between local authorities and non-governmental organisations. As a result, some border towns have committed to more equitable and inclusive migration policies.
