SPARK! ClimAct

Project ongoing, from August 2020 to July 2024

What is it about?

The climate crisis is affecting everyone but not equally. It is hitting hardest those who are least responsible for it and the least resourced to recover from its impact.

Spark is working with young people all over Europe to make their voices heard and change the unequal systems driving the climate crisis and climate injustice.

What changes does this project inspire?

Spark is raising awareness of climate justice and climate science, training youth on how to influence decision makers, and mobilizing people across Europe to demand climate action and system change.

Spark worked with Kenyan activist Elizabeth Wathuti in support of the global campaign for a Loss and Damage fund. Among other campaign activities, Spark handed COP27 negotiators thousands of hand-drawn postcards from young people across Europe calling for climate justice. Several COP27 delegates shared the postcards online and referenced the messages in their official speeches. The campaign achieved major success when all nations at COP27 agreed to establish the fund.
