Rebooting the Food System

Project ongoing, from March 2024 to February 2027

What is it about?

“Rebooting the Food System: Youth Engagement for Agroecology and Due Diligence” is a transformative project that seeks to engage and mobilise European youth across 14 EU countries. The initiative focuses on raising awareness among young citizens and integrating Global Citizenship Education into local youth activities and school curricula. The project aims to inspire young people to become change-makers in just agriculture and fair food consumption which contribute to climate justice, environmental protection and gender equality. The project employs innovative nonformal education approaches to empower youth in creating sustainable and inclusive solutions for a globally just food system.

What changes does this project inspire?

“Rebooting the Food System” is set to catalyse a shift in consciousness among Europe’s youth, turning them into champions for a sustainable future. It aims to infuse the energy of nearly 50,000 young individuals interested in agroecology and corporate due diligence, creating a ripple effect of change across Europe. The project facilitates a blend of creativity and activism, where young people are elevated from learners to leaders, initiating eco-polis labs, crafting cutting-edge campaigns, and participating in international youth festivals and conferences. The project goes beyond environmental stewardship and tackles gender justice, weaving a narrative of empowerment and inclusivity. Youth, teachers and local authorities transition into mentors and advocates, echoing youth voices in policy-making arenas. Ultimately, “Rebooting the Food System” aspires to lay the foundations for resilient communities that value sustainability, equity, and every step taken towards a harmonious coexistence with our planet.
