People & Planet

Project ongoing, from November 2020 to October 2024

What is it about?

“People and Planet” mobilises young citizens and (g)local authorities for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It equips future change-makers with tools to raise “planet awareness”. Its coalition of Local Authorities (LAs) enhances their visibility and ability to promote sustainable behaviours. In Cape Verde and in eight EU Member States, “People and Planet” uses creative multimedia tools, participatory and dynamic methodologies for nonformal and informal education.

What changes does this project inspire?

An SDG street campaign ran 400 actions for youth mobilisation over two years. In Germany, a mega-sized print “imaginary” newspaper, “Morgenkurier”, reported on potential “water news” in 20 years. In Italy, performances with light projections in Bologna highlighted the “invisible” water footprint of several industries. In Umbria, people from different generations exchanged perspectives about the SDGs. In Ireland, street art for the SDGs included a moss mural.
The “Water of the Future” campaign, launched on World Water Day, 22 March 2022, reached around 125 million people online and 7.5 million through mass media. Over 200 young European activists have been participating in eight Youth Advisory Councils that provide guidance and recommendations to local authorities. Over 37 000 young Europeans participated in Global Green Labs, which are “hands on” workshops on different “green”
