Build Solid Ground

Project complete, from November 2017 to April 2021

What is it about?

The fast urbanisation process is one of the most transformative trends in the 21st century. It has massive effects on populations and economies, and on the environmental and humanitarian aspects of cities all over the world. Actively engaging EU citizens in urbanisation issues is particularly relevant, as the EU is a major player in setting the global urban development agenda.

“Build Solid Ground” increased European citizens’ support of global sustainable development through improved awareness and development education. The project engaged Europeans for the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)s 11, to “Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. It focused on equitable global housing, and other land and urban issues.

What changes does this project inspire?

“Build Solid Ground” increased the public awareness of EU citizens of the global needs, rights, solutions, and commitments around housing, land, and cities. Project participants strengthened their understanding of the stakes of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular for “sustainable cities and communities”. They became more competent, more motivated and more active in international development, particularly in relation to sustainable housing.
