Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship

Project complete, from October 2017 to July 2021

What is it about?

“Bridge 47” mobilised global civil society to contribute to global justice and to the eradication of poverty. The project advocated for Global Citizenship Education as an essential tool among policymakers. Involving new stakeholders, it broke out of the closed circle of global citizenship educators. “Bridge 47” found new partners, with innovative ways of working, and developed the capacity of civil society. It provided Global Citizenship Education actors with a space to maintain and develop new partnerships, exchange information and best practices and in which to coordinate advocacy efforts.

What changes does this project inspire?

“Bridge 47” has connected people around the world to work together and learn from each other in making SDG target 4.7. a reality. The project advocated for better policies that reflect the role of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) in making sustainable development possible. The project made GCE more visible in policy documents on national, European and global level and developed partnerships with organisations that had not previously engaged with GCE. In addition, “Bridge 47” identified new ways of doing GCE and increased the capacity of European civil society to innovate.
